Santa Fe Love

I can’t articulate it enough. I LOVE SANTA FE, NM.

I know one day I’ll live there, just not for a long time. If you’ve never been to Santa Fe, drop what you’re doing and go.

I personally love the mile high desert city because it’s surrounded by mountains but still feels like you’re at the beach. You can wear chacos to the Opera and Native America is ever present! The architecture is historic and the people are unlike any other citizens I’ve come across, they’re so unconcerned with the stress that life can often bring.

When I live there I promise to enjoy this every day:

Love the central plaza.

Art museums galore!

And 45 minutes from the southern Rockies? Yes, please! Hiking and climbing to no end!

Ahh, thinking of Santa Fe brings a very zen like calmness over me. It motivates me to work hard to achieve my New Mexico dreams.

Santa Fe: I’ll see you seven weeks. Make sure Trader Joe’s is all stocked up on Carrot Muffins.

Jewelry: The Final Frontier

Hola!

Remember when I mentioned that I was starting a new craft endeavor? With the help of a tutorial by Sarah Ortega, practice finally made perfect with these necklaces:

Birds nest, made possible by my super handy, soon to be forever boyfriend, Todd.

To me, this one has a Manifest Destiny sentiment. I’m a total sucker for charms.

Another nest with more textured beads for the eggs. Omelettes anyone?

Also, I’m pleased to announce that my six year search for the perfect record player stand has come to an end. Thank you Roxy’s Funky Art Boutique! Hagglers welcome!

I may need to downsize my record collection, eek! Anyways, I’ll be making some handmade earrings later, I’ll be sure to post if those turn out as well as the necklaces did.

Happy Saturday!!

Spring in Oklahoma

Hi there,

I’m sure by now you saw the wicked weather that ripped through my state yesterday. I’m still here in one piece, and so is everyone I know and love.

I’ve lived in this state for 8 years now, and I still cannot get used to tornado season.
Is this something you could feel comfortable with?:

This tornado in particular touched down about 10 miles from my office. Sirens were blaring and the sky turned that really dark, eerie color that makes me wish I could click my heels and whisk away to my hometown in California. This tornado was on the ground for over an hour and was about half a mile wide. Eight people died. Serious business.

My family in California and Ireland were blowing up my phone all afternoon, thanks CNN for worrying my mom sick.

Anyways, I’m grateful to still be here with everything still in tact. So much so that I’ve registered with United Way to volunteer my weekends in Joplin, MO to aide in the relief effort. I don’t know if they’ll have any use for me, but I’m sure I’ll hear something soon.

See you again soon!
