Norman, OK.: Pretty Much Heaven.

Hello!

If you’ve never been to Norman, Oklahoma, please stop by. This weekend we had our annual Music Festival and it was bodacious! Our friends Ira and Alex came down from KC and we all camped out at our friend Pam’s house after the festival. Music, friends, campfire, and spirits; my idea of a good time.

I know the guy who runs this graphic design place, we may go in on some projects to sell on Etsy. We shall see.

I’ll toast to that!

Jay had to help me find Van Morrison. Of course! In the “M” section!

I bought this for Todd. He turned 24 recently and what better way to celebrate? With a new tank top by Brad.

Arts market: I did end up buying a necklace from my old friend Jordan.

Jay got the cajun pasta, and he didn’t recommend it. It looked like a good idea at the time?

Dag, yo!

The sign when you enter Norman says we’re a city of festivals. It’s true. And when those festivals wind down, we have Jazz in June. I’m looking forward to those Sunday evenings at Lion’s park this summer. More to come!

Happy Sunday!

Dallas, TX

Hi Everyone,

For the last two years I’ve celebrated my birthday in Dallas, TX. It’s three hours from my town and the shopping rivals Los Angeles, or at least Sacramento.

I love Okla, but in some (commercial) ways–the living is primitive . Anyways, here are some old archive photos of one of my favorite cities.

If you’re close enough for a day drive, see what Dallas has to offer!

Better Broccoli Salad

Happy Saturday!

Per request, I’ve posted one of my favorite recipes. I really dislike blogging about food because Todd is THE BEST cook (hey I was raised by a single dad, so don’t judge m’onions). I made this particular salad my own. Look Pops! I’m eating raw broccoli!

Here’s what you’ll need:

3 heads of organic broccoli
2/3 cup of miracle whip light
1/4 cup red wine vinaigrette
1/4 red onion, diced
4 slices of turkey bacon, cooked to a crisp, then diced
2/3 cup shredded fat free cheese (cheddar, mozarella, whatever you like)

Instructions: Turn on your ipod, play Manu Chao. Dance a little. Then chop your broccoli smaller than bite size, dice those onions and cook up your turkey bacon. Chop that bacon into bits, then combine ingredients. Add a dash of salt, pepper, sugar, and lemon juice. This dish is served best after marinating over night, but tastes delicious any which way!

I hope everyone enjoys it at Pam’s cookout tonight!
