Early Summer Images

It seems like we’ve been everywhere this season, and Summer has only just begun. From Washington, we drove through the beautiful Oregon on our way to my home state of California.  The drive was insanely scenic and of course any trip where we get some face time with San Francisco is a success. Visiting family was icing on the cake.

For a short time being, things have settled down around here. I’ve been cooking up a storm and taking photos of mundane things around the house.

We’ve also been getting outdoors (in town) whenever possible. We recently crushed our previous long distance records. We ran 10 miles on Tuesday, a surprise to us both. I attribute that success to cross-training with the ‘Insanity’ videos. They’re exactly as they’re titled: insane.

Now we’re working on getting both of our bikes into commission. I’m fortunate to have a husband who is super handy with road bikes.

And of course the dogs are always in our shadows, shedding on everything.

Things are pretty lax this minute, but tomorrow one of my best friends comes to visit. We’re going to be bouncing around Washington; touring Seattle, Snoqualmie Falls and Bellingham this weekend. After she departs, Jay arrives and we get to check out more local haunts. It’s going to be a busy summer!

And just so you’re in the know, I’m collaborating a giveaway with one of my favorite bloggers. More to come on that in my next post. If you have time, check out my blogroll and see if you can find the creator of my favorite Hand Crafted Pretty Little Lovelies!

Loose Ends

Things have been pretty hectic around here lately. I’ve been scrambling to make time to see each of my friends before I take off for the west coast. The hardest part of moving out of state has to be saying goodbye to the college friends I’ve made since moving to Norman, OK back in 2004. My, how things change.

Brunches with buddies have been frequent, and conversations about the dorm days have been prevalent. I’ve also done some lazy Saturday shopping with my friend Jordan (psst! check out my new picnic basket). This week I’ll also be saying goodbye to my co-workers and office life. When does this whole transition thing get easy?

Anyways, I better get back to packing. I’ve got one week left in the great state of Oklahoma. Cheers!

Muchísimas Gracias!: Wedding Gifts Galore

Isaac and I are getting pretty good at doing things out of order. We got married on December 23rd, we had our honeymoon prior to that, and this weekend we finally had our wedding party. We definitely march to the beat of our own drum.

My mother-in-law threw us an amazing bash at her house where friends and family brought forth gifts from our registry at Williams-Sonoma. I was quite overwhelmed with the generosity!

I’ve got my thank you cards completed, they just need to be addressed and mailed. After a Saturday of unpacking the amazing new kitchen ware, a mere “thank you” doesn’t seem sufficient. Can I just stand on a mountain top and shout it to the world? Yes, that. Por favor.

My mother-in-law not only threw us a memorable party, she also contributed to my baking dreams with this new kitchen-aid mixer. She’d be proud to hear I’ve already used it to make cookies for my husband; oatmeal chocolate chip, his favorite! And the matte finish in imperial grey is stunning. I can’t take my eyes off it.

We had a grand time clearing out old chipped plates and mix-matched cups. Our kitchen just got a first class make over! We’re so grateful to all our friends and family who shared in our joy. Many thanks to them.

Now off to bake some bread!
